Emergency medical personnel and police units responded late Monday afternoon to an apartment complex located along National Road after receiving urgent reports of an active altercation. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered two adult victims who had sustained multiple severe stab wounds. Both individuals were immediately transported to a local medical facility for emergency treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and police successfully took one suspect into custody at the scene with formal criminal charges currently pending.Meanwhile, a Northern Panhandle man is behind bars facing multiple felony charges following a sensitive child abuse investigation in Hancock County. Hancock County sheriff's deputies and law enforcement authorities in Weirton arrested fifty-five-year-old Chalmer Noble earlier this week following a detailed probe into alleged sexual assaults occurring inside his private residence. According to court investigators, the suspected incidents involved a juvenile victim whom Noble was left responsible for taking care of at his house. Noble remains confined in the regional jail facility pending his formal arraignment.Down in the capital city, the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority is launching a brand-new free public transit initiative starting this morning to assist holiday travelers and area event attendees. Commuters can access free downtown shuttle rides running every thirty minutes from nine in the morning until eleven at night to connect seamlessly with the highly anticipated annual Sternwheel Regatta festival and the state's official America Two-Fifty anniversary celebrations. Transportation officials note that every single operating shuttle bus is equipped with functional air conditioning, and a designated public cooling station has been established downtown as regional afternoon temperatures consistently climb well into the upper nineties.And municipal leaders in Kenova are extending public operating hours at the historic Dreamland Pool through the upcoming holiday weekend to offer area families much-needed relief from the dangerous regional heat wave.
